Ship models (or "model ships") are scale representations of sea-going vessels.

Ship models have traditionally been built of wood, though today many amateur kits are mostly or totally styrene plastic. A smaller number of model ships are constructed out of alternative materials, including sheet metal, various resins (notably fiberglass) and even bone.
